Zusammenfassung:Recent political events have brought into question the future of the OAU and African Unity. The crisis through which Africa is undergoing at the moment can be traced largely to the interactions between geography, politics and history. This paper focuses on the contemporary political map and highlights the geographical problems that beset Africa as it strives to achieve greater unity. The conclusion reached is that Africa is still a geographical expression and a long way off yet from unity. The geographical constraints are outlined.
