Short-term hypoxic resistance training improves muscular performance in untrained males

We determined the effect of resistance training under the hypoxia on muscular strength, hypertrophy and performance in untrained males. Fourteen healthy male subjects were randomly assigned to either a normoxic (20.9%; oxygen, n=7) or a hypoxic (12.7%; oxygen, n=7) resistance training group. Subject...

Zusammenfassung:We determined the effect of resistance training under the hypoxia on muscular strength, hypertrophy and performance in untrained males. Fourteen healthy male subjects were randomly assigned to either a normoxic (20.9%; oxygen, n=7) or a hypoxic (12.7%; oxygen, n=7) resistance training group. Subjects in both groups performed similar resistance training protocol included 4 weeks of back squat. Knee muscles isokinetic, one-repetition maximum, thigh fat percentage and cross-sectional area were measured before and after training. Extension peak torque, flexion and extension total work, extension angle and flexion peak torque, extension average power, agonist/antagonist strength ratio and thigh muscle cross-sectional were only significantly increased in hypoxic resistance training group (P
