Zusammenfassung:2020 was a challenging year for archaeological fieldwork in Italy and the fewer number of reports in this volume reflects the difficulty that colleagues faced in conducting their research. However, despite extended periods of lockdown and travel restrictions, the BSR was able to continue with a rich programme of fieldwork, often in support of colleagues who were unable to travel to Italy. The ERC-funded Rome Transformed Project, conducted together with Newcastle University, the Università di Firenze, and the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, has been the main focus of research over the past year. The geophysical survey teams, being based in Italy, were able to complete data capture at Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, the Scala Santa, Saint John Lateran, and in the communal park in Viale Carlo Felice alongside the Aurelian walls (see Haynes et al. in the following pages).
