Zusammenfassung:Intense positron sources require the pair production process for the positron generation. In case a pulsed positron source shall be constructed, a superconducting LINAC-based accelerator allows generating the required final time structure for the electron beam. This simplifies the positron beam construction. The first such setup, the EPOS system (ELBE Positron Source) at the Forschungszentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (FZD), is described.
