Zusammenfassung: | A programme of archaeological works in advance of the construction of a new sewer pipeline at Gallow Hill, Girvan (NGR NX 197996) resulted in the preservation through record of archaeological remains of different periods. These included several late Mesolithic lithic scatters and pits, a burnt mound and six burnt mound troughs dating from the late third millennium BC to the late second millennium BC and two ring groove houses dating to the Romano-British period. Many of these features had been preserved through the deposition of alluvial and colluvial sediments which also incorporated prehistoric artefacts spanning five millennia. |
