Zusammenfassung: | During negotiations and early implementation of the historic 2016 peace agreement between the Colombian government and the ex-guerrilla group known as FARC, the country experienced a period of stability and economic prosperity. However, this progress came at an environmental price and is also proving to be short lived. Rural lands and forested areas left idle by decades of conflict, inadvertently "protected" by FARC's presence . quickly became subject to unorganized land transformations. Moreover, in 2018, after having campaigned to modify the 2016 accord, Ivan Duque won the Colombian presidential election, and the advancements laid forth began to unravel. |
