Chemical Composition Modification of Inclusions in Steels by Controlled Ca Treatment

Zusammenfassung:Five plant trials with high, medium, and low Ca total /O total ratios, as well as higher Al and S contents in steels were conducted to study the validity of thermodynamic model predictions for the "liquid window"—where inclusions are liquid after Ca-treatment. The window can be succinctly represented by the ratio of Ca in sulfide inclusions to Ca in oxide inclusions. There was good agreement between model predictions and experimental results.
