Zusammenfassung:The effect the length and diameter of model carbon nanotubes have on their properties of emission in a constant electric field is investigated within the concept of emission molecular orbitals generated by in plane -electronic conjugation in carbon nanotubes. It is shown that the critical strength of a constant electric field required for the field emission of electrons falls asymptotically upon an increase in the linear length of the nanotubes. Upon an increase in nanotube diameter, the critical field strength tends to a certain constant value determined by the chirality indices of the nanotubes. The results agree with experimental data.
