Zusammenfassung:The 1st international conference on composites “Advances in Composite Science and Technologies” was held in Bauman Moscow State Technical University from 5 to 8 December, 2018. The conference is meant to be a unified international platform for the knowledge and experience exchange between representatives of the scientific community from the field of composite materials. The following sections covered the most important topics in the composite sciences field. Session 1. "Smart" composite materials and composites for biomedical application Session 2. Advanced metal matrix composites Session 3. Physical and technological maintenance of the quality of composite materials products Session 4. Composite materials for rocket and space applications Session 5. Mechanics of composite materials and structures Session 6. Inorganic composite materials Session 7. Fiber surface modification methods Session 8. Modelling in composite science Session 9. High Temperature composites Session 10. Russian engineering school (educational session) The success of the conference is supported with more than 150 of proceeding papers received by Organizing Committee and only 95 were selected for publication after reviewing process. We are grateful to all participants as well as to discussion leaders, members of Organizing and Scientific boards for taking part in the conference and looking forward to the next year event. Acknowledgments This work was supported by Russian Foundation of Basic Research (RFBR) grant 18-08-20139\18. A post-publication change was made to this article on 3 Mar 2020 to add funding details.
