KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDE AND PRACTICES OF DENTISTS CONCERNING PERIODONTAL TISSUE PROPERTIES

PDL can cooperate with the maxillofacial region, playing a substantial role in biological functions, such as absorption of occlusal forces, protection of alveolar bone height and tooth movement by bone remodelling. According to the above statements and considering the importance of pre-prosthetic and surgical operations of crown length increase, the aim of this study was to assess the knowledge, attitude and practice on the periodontium properties of general dentists in Birjand, Iran, in the year 2020. The first part included demographic characteristics, such as age, gender, work experience, place of activity, while the second part consisted of 14, 11 and 9 questions on the knowledge, attitude and practice regarding the characteristics of the periodontal tissue around the retainable teeth, respectively. According to the results of Table 1, the knowledge levels of dentists were 62.1% and 37.9%, as moderate and good, respectively.
