Zusammenfassung: | This article aims to present the results of a literature review on agroindustry solid-liquid enzyme-assisted extraction (S-L EAE), to identify the most recent uses and types of enzymes in solid-liquid extraction. For this purpose, two search equations were made with the keywords “enzymatic,” “solid-liquid,” “extraction,” and “by-products” or “wastes” or “residues” in Scopus database, which lead to 230 resulted articles which were analyzed. Many agro-industrial wastes contain organic value compounds which required to be extracted by solid-liquid extraction techniques to take advantage of them. Therefore, incorporation of enzymes such as cellulase, proteases among others in solid-liquid extraction method is a green and eco-friendly improvement applied to this unit operation to reduce the use of organic chemical solvents and enhancing the biomolecules recovery such as phenols, carotenoids, oils, and so on from wastes or by-products from agro-industrial activities. Thus, agro-wastes are products that could be initially expected as losses which contain a significant number of biomolecules with nutraceutical, food, and pharmaceutical potential which can be extracted with high efficiency and specificity with the use of enzymes.
