Zusammenfassung:In 1961, some professional astronomers, such as Jack Heard and Ruth Northcott, were active in the RASC. Not until the founding of the Canadian Astronomical Society (CASCA) in 1971 did professionals have a society of their own. This year, CASCA is celebrating its 50th birthday! Some professionals remained active in the RASC and contributed significantly to its leadership and publications. They became my "kindred spirits."
