Zusammenfassung:The oribatid mite population was studied in the zonal permafrost pale yellow taiga soil of Central Yakutia, East Siberia. In general, the population of oribatid mites in the studied soil is highly original due to the following features: a considerable difference in the set of species and supraspecific taxa between the studied fauna and those of the neighboring territories; a “fragmentary” character of the oribatid community showing a large proportion of families represented by single genera and of genera represented by single species, as well as low “potential species richness”; strong dominance of the cosmopolitan species Tectocepheus velatus in the community.
