Zusammenfassung:The electrochemical behavior of uranium (IV) tetrachloride in ionic liquid–DMF mixture was studied for the first time in order to build a redox flow battery (RFB) using U as an electrode active material. A quasi-reversible UIII/UIV couple was observed in an [EtMeIm][Tf2N]–DMF mixture (1:1 v/v) at 298 K and the reversibility improved by the addition of Cl−. The repeatability of UIII/UIV couple was high. These results indicated that the UIII/UIV couple is suitable for the anode reaction of the RFB.
