Zusammenfassung:Multichannel analysis of surface waves (MASW) has played an important role in shear wave velocity survey of subsurface. Modern urban engineering construction needs more and more high-resolution detection of shallow underground objects. However, the traditional MASW method will reduce the detection depth when the receiving array length is reduced to improve lateral resolution. We propose a modified multichannel analysis method of surface waves based on short array stacked correlation gather (SCG-MASW) to solve this problem. The geometry of SCG-MASW is same as MASW, but surface wave dispersion is derived from short array stacked correlation gather instead of shot gather. Both theoretical and experimental data show that the SCG-MASW can improve the lateral resolution by using short receiving array, while not reducing the detection depth. •A modified multichannel analysis method of surface waves is proposed.•The modified method obtained dispersion curve base on short array stacked correlation gather.•This method can improve the horizontal resolution without reducing the detection depth.
