Zusammenfassung: | This study aims to determine the level of the workload of rolling-mill operators in the production department at PT Jaya Pari Steel. The study includes four steps: surveying, making questionnaires, distributing questionnaires, and data processing. The main problem faced by the company is the high workload that must be carried out by the operators so that the measurement of workload, in this case, using the NASA-TLX method, is required. The criteria emphasized in measuring workload covers six indicators: Mental Demand (MD), Physical Demand (PD), Temporal Demand (TD), Effort (EF), Own Performance (OP), and Frustration (FL). This study involved 168 respondents and found that the value of an indicator of physical need (PD) has an average value that is greater than other indicators. The results showed that: 1) seven operators felt the workload with a very high level in the range 80-100 while 11 other operators felt the workload with a high level in the range of 50-79, 2) the working environment conditions at PT Jaya Pari Steel needed to be improved to elevate the operator performance. The unsupportive working environment, such as weather, room temperature, noise, and lack of lighting and ineffective shifting of work systems are factors in the high workload of rolling mill operators. |
