Oral route is an attractive alternative to the oral and pareneteral routes for systemic drug delivery because of the rich vascularization of the oral mucosa and its permeability to many drugs.1,2 Many mucosal dosage forms have been developed like adhesive tablets, gels, ointments, patches and more recently the use of polymeric films for buccal delivery also known as Mouth Dissolving Films3,4. Mouth dissolving films are also applicable when local action in the mouth is desirable such as local anesthetic for toothaches, oral ulcers, cold sores or teething and also used where quick onset of action of drug is desired.7-9 Hyperlipidemia leads to a disease atherosclerosis which is responsible for coronary heart disease, stroke and myocardial infarction. The in vitro release of fast dissolving MDF of Rosuvastatin was carried out using basket type (USPApparatus I) method (Lab India Model No: DISSO-2000) for this study. 300ml of pH 6.8 phosphate buffer was taken which was maintained at 37±5°c. A 2x2 sample film is taken into the basket which was set at 75rpm.
