Zusammenfassung: | Testing an inbred cross for hybrid development requires a powerful test cross method. The diallel is one of the powerful test crosses to obtain the information of inbred combining ability both in general combining ability or specific combining ability that will be useful for hybrid development. This study was aimed to determine general combining ability, specific combining ability and heterosis of 6 inbred lines in two seasons. All the inbred were crossed in diallel pattern and further evaluated for their combining ability and genetic ratio following Griffing and Baker method, respectively. This result revealed that both GCA, SCA and REC. was influenced by planting season for almost all yield and yield related traits. Non additive gene action was more important in controlling ear length, ear row number, shelled ear weight and Yield. The best GCA for yield trait was detected on inbred G2 and G5. Combined interpretation from SCA and REC. concluded that inbred cross of G1xG6, G4xG6 and G5xG6 were the best. |
