Zusammenfassung:In the present work, coke is produced from batch with a high content (60–80%) of gas coal, in semiindustrial and industrial conditions. The influence of the following factors on the coke yield and quality is investigated: the coke oven’s wall temperature; the coking duration and rate; the final temperature at the center of the charge; and the content of gas coal in the batch. The quality of individual size classes (>80 mm to ≤5 mm) in the coke is assessed on the basis of technical analysis, the mechanical strength, the reactivity, the electrical resistivity, and the pore structure. A coke sorting system that incorporates mechanical treatment is proposed. By that means, three coke classes are obtained: >40, 10–40, and ≤10 mm. The potential steel-industry demand for such classes is assessed.
