Zusammenfassung:Classicism is one of the most persistent architectural styles, as other styles successfully adopt its dogmas. This paper dwells upon how classicist trends influenced the successor style: eclecticism. The research builds upon studying Saratov’s architectural monuments built in the second half of the 19th century to compare their core features to those of classical architecture. In conclusion, the paper analyzes how classicism affected the architectural eclecticism and attempts to define the most persistent principles behind architecture and how it comes into being.
