As language and literacy researchers, they recognize that separating detained children and youth from their parents, guardians, and family impedes language and literacy skills and knowledge that families provide one another. The committee built their review process around educational scholars who embody radical love; humanizing language and literacy methods; and methodologies, imagination, and creativity.
