Zusammenfassung:Hand hygiene is a basics and routine of life for the prevention and control for acquired infections in our daily life as well as for healthcare workers. Correct procedure of washing hands by hand sanitizers is important including the drying methods. Hand sanitizers play an important role to stop the chain of transmission of infectious pathogenic microorganisms from our hand to other body parts. Sanitization of our hands is the preeminent aid in preventing various nosocomial infections mainly caused by various opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms and to get rid out of it the use of hand sanitizer becomes important to live safe and secure in present scenario. The main focus of present work is to formulate herbal hand sanitizer by the use of natural Indian herbal plants by incorporating the extracts of leaves of bay (Laurus nobilis) and mustard (Brassica nigra) along with fruits of Tamarind {Tamarindus indica) with camphor (Cinnamomum camphora). We have speculated and evaluate their respective antimicrobial efficacy and the safety of hands hygiene. The herbal formulation was thoroughly evaluated against the specified microbial strains including Escherichia coli. Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis by the use of culture sensitivity test. The comparison was done using phytochemical test, antimicrobial test and thin layer chromatography. We found in antimicrobial test that the extracts of fruit of tamarind have more effective as compared to leaves of bay and mustard. The formulated Herbal Hand Sanitizer showed more effective against palm bacteria as compared to traditional Dettol, Lifebuoy and Himalaya trademarks.
