Zusammenfassung:In this paper, the vulnerability of historical masonry aggregates due to local failures is assessed through a novel kinematic limit analysis that is based on NURBS geometry representation and Genetic Algorithm-mesh adaptation. The mesh adaptation allows finding the shape of the collapse mechanism with good precision. The contribution of the most common reinforcement systems, such as tie rods, is taken into account and the collapse mechanism modifications due to the presence of tie rods are evaluated. A historical masonry aggregate located in the historical center of Arsita (Teramo, Italy) is presented as case study.
