Zusammenfassung:•A simple cation exchange methods was used and synthesized the Ca-MOF successfully.•Firstly applied as anode material of SIB and delivered excellent specific capacity.•Achieved stable charge & discharge plateau and good reversibility. A novel calcium metal organic framework (calcium terephthalic, CaBDC) has been successfully synthesized by a facile and feasible method through ion exchange. The as-synthesized calcium terephthalate (C8H4CaO4) exhibits a suitable voltage plateau at 0.5 V for sodium-ion storage, and delivers a specific capacity of 235.2 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.2 A g−1. The further electrochemical examination indicates the high capacity retention and excellent rate performance in this type of Ca-MOF material, which could be considered as a promising anode material for sodium-ion batteries.
