[...]the author's persistence to gain full access has paid off, giving us many new insights into Italian military strategy as well as a deeper understanding of the psychology and lived experience of the participants. The failure of the occupation authorities to prevent the collapse of social order left a power vacuum to be filled by the resistance, notably in the Communist EAM-controlled areas. |
