Zusammenfassung:Briefringent coating is a powerful, whole-field optical technique and it can be applied both in the field and laboratory investigations. Using this technique elasto-plastic strains were measured around a central circular hole in an aluminium plate. An iterative algorithm was developed to convert the measured strains into elasto-plastic stresses.A numerical solution for this problem was also obtained. Reliability of the measurements was ensured from the verification of equilibrium condition and close comparison of experimental values with numerical results.
