Zusammenfassung: | Sandwich materials are gaining recognition for applications requiring lightweight yet strong materials. A sandwich material with AA8011 and AA1100 as skin material and polypropylene was prepared using roll-joining process. Tensile tests were performed on specimens cut with 0°, 45°, and 90° orientation with respect to rolling direction. The test revealed that 0° orientation had superior mechanical properties than other two specimens. Flexural tests were taken on three specimens. It was found that the specimens were having relatively good load-bearing capabilities. Erichsen cupping test was taken on the specimen and was observed that it could resist and withstand low-velocity impact loads. From the tests, it was concluded that the prepared specimen can be used for applications such as automotive body panels, bonnets, and dashboards. |
