Zusammenfassung:This paper reports development of a new nanocomposite “Chitosan-sodium titanate’ containing 50% of sodium titanate. SEM and TEM/EDS analysis confirmed formation of homogeneously dispersed un-agglomerated product. Ion exchange property of the composite is evaluated towards separation of strontium from simulated radioactive waste solution. The synthesized composite has been used in a fixed bed column for separation of strontium and 5000 bed volumes of simulated waste were decontaminated. It is inferred that the synthesized composite has potential for the separation of Sr from alkaline waste streams.
