-butyl ether (MTBE) is used as an extraction solvent. It features all the advantages of diethyl ether while lacking its disadvantages: it is not prone to peroxide formation and is not a significant air pollutant due to its higher boiling point. The chemical composition of MTBE extract of sea buckthorn leafy shoots is studied by gas chromatography mass spectrometry and high-performance liquid chromatography. Seventy-four neutral and 38 acidic components, including polyprenols, dolichols, triterpene alcohols and acids, and sterols are identified. In comparison to hexane, MTBE, as an extraction solvent, provides higher yields of bioactive triterpene acids and diols, including uvaol, eritrodiol, and betulin. The presence of these compounds in the prepared extract may enhance its beneficial properties. |
