Zusammenfassung:The outdoor exhibition in Kerry, "Atlantic Telegraph Cables Trail," tells the remarkable story of the establishment of telegraph connections between Europe and America in the mid 19th century that finally reduced communication time between the two continents from weeks to hours. In 1866, the largest ship afloat on the seas, the Brunei-designed, 700-foot Great Eastern made landfall at Newfoundland having towed some 2,000 miles of cable line from Valentia Island in Co Kerry.
