Zusammenfassung:A method for determining the rise altitude of smoke plumes from industrial pipes using satellite information is proposed. The method is approved by an example of a large combined heat and power plant of Novosibirsk. The results are compared with the calculations by commonly accepted techniques. Possibilities of using the considered approach for different meteorological conditions and characteristics of the underlying surface are discussed.
