Zusammenfassung: | A database about radon and uranium concentrations in sediments of Gharraf Canal and some of its brooks (GCB) by plastic-can technique using etched-track-detectors (LR-115 II) is carried out. To handle the lack of published data about concentration of radioactive elements in this river, as well as this data may be used to supplement the radiological map of Iraq. The airborne radon concentration (ARC), the dissolved radon concentration (DRC) and uranium concentration (UC) from the samples vary between (43.676±6.028 - 422.199±22.329 Bq/m3), (6.419±0.886 - 62.049±3.282 kBq/m3) and (0.467±0.064 - 4.510±0.238 ppm), respectively, UC was less than the maximum standard- value (11.7 ppm) by UNSCEAR. The results were closed to other studies in Iraq and relatively low when compared with other data around the world. |
