Otroško zavetišce v Ljubljani – nastanek in delovanje v prvem desetletju (1834–1844)

The article deals with the establishment and development of the first Children’s Sanctuary in Ljubljana. The Austrian monarchy confirmed its establishment, yet did not finance its operation. The institution was financed with contributions of individuals and through charity events; the initiative was therefore in the hands of the richer and more influential social class in Ljubljana. The author presents a detailed description of the institution’s beginnings, endeavours of individuals in the process and the first decade of its operation.
