Zusammenfassung: | Intracellular calcium plays an important role in controlling cellular activities. A fluctuation of intracellular calcium level continuously occurs in living cells due to the function of different physiology of the cell including cell division and gene function regulation. Calcium is a signaling molecule and under the pathological condition, it initiates the apoptotic pathways. Calcium modulating agents alter the signaling mechanism and these chemicals might be the therapeutic strategy to control different ailments. In this experiment calcium modulating effect of neuropeptide y was studied on hippocampal cells. The significant difference in the cytoplasmic calcium level and calcium oscillation pattern was observed between control and neuropeptide y treated neurons. |
