Zusammenfassung:The drugs which have local action or those which have maximum absorption in gastric pH require increased duration of stay in GIT. [...]floating and mucoadhesive drug delivery systems are advantageous in increasing the bioavailability and enhanced therapeutic activity. [...]patients should not be dosed with floating forms just before going to bed.6 Types of FDDS(7-9) (A) Non-effervescent systems: [...]the product floats on the gastric fluid while releasing the drug gradually over a prolonged duration. The potential benefits include increased bioavailability; predictable, reproducible and generally short gastric residence time, no risk of dose dumping; reduced risk of local irritation, and the flexibility to blend pellets with different compositions or release patterns. Because of their smaller particle size these systems are capable of passing through the GI tract easily, leading to less interand intra-subject variability.
