Zusammenfassung:Novel Sm 3+ -doped tellurate Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 phosphors have been prepared through the solid-state reaction for the first time. The powder phase purity, particle morphology, and luminescence properties are analyzed in detail. Under the 405 nm excitation, the Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 :Sm 3+ phosphors show orange-red emission with four typical peaks. The optimal doping concentration of Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 : x Sm 3+ is found at x  = 0.02 mol and the critical transfer distance ( R c ) is 21.08 Å. The color purity of Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 :Sm 3+ phosphors are as high as 99.9%. The commission international de l'Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates are in the orange-red region. Temperature-related photoluminescence spectra and the corresponding CIE color coordinates indicate the phosphors possess good thermal stability and stable color property. Besides, the internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of the Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 :0.02Sm 3+ phosphor reached 17.23%. Thus, Bi 4 Sr 3 Te 5 O 19 :Sm 3+ phosphors have great potential applications in abundant lighting and displays.
