Zusammenfassung: | Cholera is an ancient disease that remains a public health problem in many impoverished locations around the world. Seven pandemics of cholera have been recorded since the first pandemic in 1817, the last of which is on going. Overcrowding, poverty, insufficient water and sanitation facilities increase the risk for cholera outbreaks. The epidemiology of cholera in the areas in Asia, Africa and the Americas where the disease occurs continues to evolve. |
