Zusammenfassung:— We have optimized conditions for the flux growth of the RAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 (R = Y, Nd, Gd, Lu) and RMgB 5 O 10 (R = Y, La, Gd) rare-earth borates and measured the thermal conductivity of YAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 , NdAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 , GdAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 , LuAl 3 (BO 3 ) 4 , and LaMgB 5 O 10 crystals. The results strongly suggest that these materials are potentially attractive for use as laser gain elements.
