Zusammenfassung:[...]publications on the topic reveal visible reporting discrepancies. [...]the aim of our study was to perform a systematic-review of case-controlled observational studies on CD oral manifestations. Despite the relatively constant prevalence reported for such oral manifestations, publications are characterized by high publication and outcome bias. [...]oral manifestations are influenced by concurring the oral conditions possibly generated by diet and healthcare disparities. [...]CD should be searched in patients with DEDs and aphthous ulcers or RAS, yet the concurring conditions should be ruled out, and a thorough CD diagnosis algorithm should be implemented. The diagnosis is currently defined by 5 components: symptoms, the presence of HLA-DQ2/ DQ8, celiac antibodies in serum, duodenal histology and response to the gluten-free diet [4,5]. Because CD is a multisystem disorder with protean clinical manifestations, a high index of suspicion is needed to make an appropriate diagnosis.
