Zusammenfassung: | Magnetite (Fe3O4) is an iron oxide in nature known as black iron oxide and also able to be synthesized from ferric and ferrous ions. Magnetite can be used as a support for adsorbents, where the magnetic properties of magnetite will facilitate the approval of the adsorbent. In this study, the magnetite was obtained by synthesis of FeCl3.6H2O and FeSO4.7H2O. Furthermore, magnetite can improve silica-cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB) used as an adsorbent for phenol compounds. Magnetite synthesis was carried out through a co-precipitation method, while magnetite coating with silica and CTAB used a sol-gel method. The results obtained were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) to determine the functional group. The phenol adsorption ability of each adsorbent was carried out in batches and the phenol concentration was determined by a UV-VIS spectrophotometer. The optimum phenol adsorption ability occurs when using an adsorbent of Magnetite@silica synthesized in CTAB 6 mM. |
