Zusammenfassung:	Probst et al discuss the cause of a patient's severe pruritus. A 56-year-old man presented to his primary care physician with complaints of general pruritus for the past few weeks. Because of the patient's elevated liver enzymes and bilirubin, an ultrasound of the liver was performed, which showed a dilated common bile duct. An obstruction was suspected. At this point, the patient was told to stop the hydroxyzine and start cholestyramine to help bind the bilirubin and improve the itching.
