Complete mitogenome analysis of endangered Malabar mahseer (Tor malabaricus)

The complete mitochondrial genome of the endangered fish Tor malabaricus , (Malabar mahseer) was sequenced for the first time. The mitochondrial genome size was determined to be 16580 bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and a control region (D...

Zusammenfassung:The complete mitochondrial genome of the endangered fish Tor malabaricus , (Malabar mahseer) was sequenced for the first time. The mitochondrial genome size was determined to be 16580 bp in length, consisting of 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNAs, 2 ribosomal RNA genes and a control region (D-loop). The overall base composition was A: 31.88%, T: 24.87%, G: 15.68% and C: 27.58%. The phylogenetic analysis of 13 protein-coding genes of available mitogenome of mahseer species showed that the T. malabaricus had closer relationship to the black mahseer T. khudree . The complete mitochondrial genome sequence of T. malabaricus would contribute to the better understanding of molecular systematics, selection, conservation, species identification and evolution of this species.
