Zusammenfassung:Oil content and fatty acid composition are important properties in terms of consumption o f oily seed products. Cotton plant is one of the important oil plants. Oil cakes are by-products obtained from cotton seed is an important source of protein in animal nutrition. Seeds of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) genotypes (Stoneville-468, BA-119, DP396, Babylon are registered; proceeding with registration Esperia (GW-13-921) and Bomba (GW-131409) and including new lines GW-15179, GW15180, GW-15184, GW-15186, GW-15187, GW-15188, GW-15189, GW-15191) were used to investigate oil content and fatty acid composition in a producer field in 2017 and 2018. The experiment was designed in randomized block design with 4 replications, each plot being 4 rows, 72 cm spacing between rows and 16-18 cm spacing within rows. Cotton seeds were sown on 1 May 2017 and 4 May 2018. The oil content of seeds obtained from cotton genotypes was determined by Solvent Extraction method and fatty acids were determined by Gas Chromatography (GC). The average oil content was 19%. Mean of contents of myristic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, linolenic acid and arachidic acid were 0.81%, 23.7%, 0.56%, 2.38%, 0.14% and 0.28%, respectively. Additionally, oleic and linoleic acid contents were 17% and 53%, respectively. GW-15180 and Esperia genotypes regarding crude oil content and DP-396 and GW-15179 genotypes in terms of fatty acids especially for oleic acid content can be used in cotton seed quality breeding programs.
