Zusammenfassung:The mechanical and tribological performances of glass-epoxy (GE) and carbon-epoxy (CE) pre-peg composites are presented in this paper. Composites were prepared from their respective pre-pegs using compression molding technique. The mechanical and three body abrasive wear tests were conducted as per ASTM standards. Evaluation of mechanical properties indicated that carbon-epoxy composites had superior properties compared to glass-epoxy composites except the tensile modulus and percentage elongation. The three body wear study has shown the considerable influence of sliding distance on wear rate. The sliding velocity and normal load have shown lesser influence on wear rate. This study has shown that pre-peg composites can be successfully prepared using compression molding technique and can be tested as per ASTM standards.
