Zusammenfassung: | Russian SNiP code is dominantly adopted to design concrete structures through the so-called Eurasia countries. However, there has been no significant modification and update due to complex political and industrial situations in this region for the past several decades. In addition, it is very hard to trace back the origin and design philosophy of the shear design method specified in SNiP code due to limited access to important documents hidden in different engineering practices and industrial barriers. This study therefore addresses the exact background of the shear design method in SNiP code, and its accuracy and applicability were examined in detail by using the currently available shear databases for reinforced and prestressed concrete beam members. On this basis, the key influencing parameters of shear strengths in concrete members were identified, and the complex design procedures in the current SNiP code were modified to secure a reasonable safety level and better applicability. |
