Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle mode selection strategy for full battery consumption and known road slope condition

Zusammenfassung: | Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) has two modes, using electric drive only (EV Mode) and using both electric drive with combustion engine (Hybrid HV mode). Typical PHEV energy management strategy will use EV mode until battery state of charge (SoC) is fully depleted and then switch to HV mode. This paper proposed energy management strategy which also take slope of the road into consideration which can be realized using additional inclinometer sensor or retrieving data in global positioning system (GPS). Through data acquisition using Prius PHEV, road profile and energy consumption model is derived. Performance evaluation is conducted using model and proposed strategy algorithm. It shows that proposed strategy can achieve less fuel consumption up to 1.4% compared to conventional strategy. |
