Teachers point to the need for students to read more literature about other cultures so they can see that cultural mores and values differ in various parts of the world and that appreciation and understanding of these differences may help contribute to a more peaceful existence for everyone. It's also true that students from other countries must increase their understanding of American culture in the same way.
