Drawings Imitating Prints: Pierre van Schuppen

Turner focuses on the drawing imitating prints of Pierre van Schuppen. The author focuses on the group of ten unsigned drawings preserved in an album in the Albertina, Vienna from the collection of Prince Eugene of Savoy. Except for a mention by Pierre-Jean Mariette (1694-1774) and a listing of three of them on the Albertina's database, they remain unpublished. The drawings can be attributed to the Franco-Flemish draughtsman and engraver Pieter or Pierre van Schuppen (1627-1702) on the authority of Mariette, who explicitly lists them in his notes on the artist.
