Zusammenfassung:Undersea cable systems are becoming more complex as they evolve from isolated systems to global networks. This evolution has created new challenges for network planners, cable installers, and those responsible for cable maintenance. This paper describes the philosophies and ensuing strategies for these activities. Specifically, the AT&T-Submarine Systems, Inc. (AT&T-SSI) maintenance, repair, management, planning, operation, and administration of cable systems are discussed.
