Zusammenfassung:Oddly, one really big core issue that has not come up during the debates of 2020 is the protecting of suffrage. That's a bit perplexing. After all, many of the big changes being talked about onstage are dependent on a strong, functioning representative democracy. And if the last few years have proven anything, its that American democracy is more fragile, and far more frayed, than Americans realized. This weakening of democratic institutions is exacerbated by the fact that a key watchdog is no longer around. States previously subject to preclearance under the Voter Rights Act have purged voters from their electoral rolls at a rate of 40 percent higher than other states.
